The Jingjiu Railway and Shangjiu Railway, also known as the Beijing-Kowloon Line,Shanghai-Kowloon Line, connects the Beijing West Station/Shanghai Station with the Hung Hom Station in Kowloon in the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong.
Construction began on the dual track railway in February 1993. Opened in 1996, the line runs 2397 kilometers through Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Hubei, Jiangsi and Guangdong. The Jiujiang Yangtze River Bridge is the longest bridge across the Yangtze at 7,679 meters.
The track is located between the Jinghu Railway (Beijing-Shanghai) and the Jingguang Railway (Beijing-Guangzhou). It was built to alleviate congestion on the busy Jingguang Railway and to foster development in the areas to the east of Jingguang Railway.
